The main health related legislation going through the Dáil this week is the second stage of the Health (Alteration of Criteria for Eligibility) Bill 2013. The Bill will be discussed in the house on Wednesday March 20th and Thursday March 21st. The purpose of the Bill is to amend the Health Act 1970 to change the eligibility rules for medical cards for persons aged 70 years and over.
Two items will be raised at the Health and Children Committee Meetings this week; on Wednesday March 20th the Health (Pricing and Supply of Medical Goods) Bill 2012 [Minister of State at the Department of Health with Responsibility for Primary Care] will be discussed. On Friday March 22nd discussion on tackling childhood poverty [Ms Moira O’Mara, Director, Department of Children and Youth Affairs] will be resumed.
