New Anaphylaxis Evidence Update from NICE

‘Anaphylaxis Evidence Update: March 2013’ has been published.  The new Evidence Update focuses on a summary of selected new evidence relevant to NICE clinical guideline 134 ‘Anaphylaxis: assessment to confirm an anaphylactic episode and the decision to refer after emergency treatment for a suspected anaphylactic episode’ (2011).

Both in the Dáil and the Seanad this week the Health (Alteration of Criteria for Eligibility) Bill 2013 will go to Committee and remaining stages.  This Bill changes the eligibility rules for medical cards for persons aged 70 years and over.

The main health related legislation going through the Dáil this week is the second stage of the Health (Alteration of Criteria for Eligibility) Bill 2013.   The Bill will be discussed in the house on Wednesday March 20^th and Thursday March 21^st.  The purpose of the Bill is to amend the Health Act 1970 to change the eligibility rules for medical cards for persons aged 70 years and over.

Two items will be raised at the Health and Children Committee Meetings this week; on Wednesday March 20^th the Health (Pricing and Supply of Medical Goods) Bill 2012 [Minister of State at the Department of Health with Responsibility for Primary Care] will be discussed.  On Friday March 22^nd discussion on tackling childhood poverty [Ms Moira O’Mara, Director, Department of Children and Youth Affairs] will be resumed.
